Five Must Have Beach Toys
For the most part we don't take toys with us when we go outside. One major exception is the beach! Kids love to use the endless supplies of sand and water to make exceptional creations. We don't need a ton of toys but these five things are definitely on our must have list. We write our last name on our sand toys with a sharpie and it saves so much time when we go to pack up at the end of the day. Everyone's beach toys start to look the same after a little while :). Laundry baskets are a cheap and easy way to transport toys between the beach and home!
1. Ice Cream Cone Sand Toys
These are BY FAR the most popular of our sand toys. Our kids use them (and so do all the other kids). I'm always surprised at how engaged they are with them because they can really only make one type of cone (chocolate?) But they also decorate with shells (sprinkles) and love to deliver their cones to customers for fake money. There are a few different companies that make these ice cream cone sets and we love any kind!
✸Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Speck Seahorse Sand Ice Cream Play Set
-This set comes with a little shaker with sprinkles and it all fits in a special little bucket. Great set!
✸Spielstabil Ice Cream Duo Play Set with 4 Plastic Cones and 1 Scoop Mold
-This set has brightly colored cones! The kids love it!
2. Kids Gardening Shovels
These seems to work much better than plastic shovels when kids really want to dig deep. Our kids love to make a small kiddie pool or bathtub at the waters edge. They also use these to bury each other. They never get frustrated if we have actual shovels along with us instead of the flimsier plastic ones.
3. Tons of Buckets of all Shapes and Sizes
These are for carting water, filling with rocks, holding tadpoles, and making different types of structures. You can never have too many buckets at the beach and a variety of buckets will keep kiddos occupied with many different types of activities.
✸If you really want to go fancy check out the Quut Ballo Preschool Beach Bucket Toy. I'm not sure why the kids are so drawn to this bucket but it's always a hit. It would make a great birthday gift!
✸The HABA Sand Bucket Scooter is also a really cute little set!
4. Tennis Balls
They are cheap, they float, and they are brightly colored! Win-Win-Win! Tennis balls are the perfect ball for the beach. Bonus: you can use the tube they come in to fill up with water.
5. Watering Can
Every toddler loves a watering can. There is something about the sensation of pouring water from a watering can that is very different than pouring from a bucket. Kids love the feel, the sound, and the sight!
It doesn't take much to keep kids occupied at the beach! Long days filled with water and sand and a few fun beach toys refresh the family and leave everyone with some great memories.
